for the moment when you know what to do, but still cannot begin

You know what to do. You just can't start.

Again is built for that moment between knowing and beginning. No streaks. No timer pressure. No guilt built in.

We are opening beta in small waves and will reach out when a spot opens for you.

this might sound familiar

A lot of capable people quietly deal with this.

This is more common than people admit, and it does not mean something is wrong with you.

You wrote the list. You still can't pick one and begin.

The timer helped once. Now opening it feels like another task.

The streak broke. Then the streak became the reason you stayed away.

This is the part that matters

You're not lazy. You're stuck. There's a difference.

why this keeps happening

Most tools were not built for this moment.

They help with organizing, planning, reviewing, and keeping up after you begin. But for a lot of people, the hardest part happens earlier.

They give you a timer.

But starting the timer can feel like committing to finish. On a hard day, that commitment is the barrier.

They give you streaks.

A streak that breaks can turn into a reason not to come back, even when the tool was meant to help.

They count what is unfinished.

A screen that tells you how much is still undone rarely makes the day feel lighter.

They ask for more structure.

More sorting. More planning. More decisions. Exactly when you have the least room for them.

a different kind of focus tool

Again was built around one idea: the app should never make a hard day harder.

No timer on the session screen.

Time passes quietly in the background. That is enough.

No streaks. No record of absence.

Every time you open Again, it meets you where you are.

The exit is always open.

Whether you stayed two minutes or forty, the message is the same: You showed up.

how it helps

Built around real moments, not feature categories.

Again gives different kinds of support for different kinds of days, without turning every moment into more to manage.

what Again will never do

These are not missing features. They are design decisions.

The things most tools add by default are often the things that make hard days harder.

  • Show you a streak counter
  • Pressure you with absence
  • Put a timer or countdown on the session screen
  • Turn unfinished tasks into a scoreboard
  • Use guilt language to bring you back
  • Make a hard day heavier than it already is

why this exists

Built out of lived experience and careful review.

Again came out of personal experience, many conversations with people who know this feeling well, and careful review of why so many focus tools backfire. We also spoke with a psychologist so we could keep pressure-testing one question throughout: could this design make someone feel worse on a hard day.
